Amazon merilis informasi akan ketersediaan ebook reader terbaru Amazon Kindle DX, penerus dari Amazon Kindle. Amazon juga merilis bagaimana bentuk dari Kindle DX tersebut. Saat ini Kindle DX sudah bisa dipesan, dan akan tersedia pada musim panas 2009.
Kindle DX memiliki ukuran 10.4″x7.2″x0.38″ lebih besar dari Kindle yang hanya 8″x5.3″x0.36″, dengan ukuran diagonal layar 9.7″ membuat pengguna Kindle DX lebih nyaman saat membaca ebook. Selain itu juga Kindle DX mempunyai kapasitas lebih besar dari Kindle, dengan kapasitas 4GB (3.3GB yang tersedia untuk pengguna) Kindle DX mampu menampung setara dengan 3500 buku lebih dari 2 kali kapasitas Kindle yang hanya 1500 buku.
Selain itu juga terdapat feature baru yaitu Auto Rotating Display yang memungkinkan pengguna membaca ebook secara portrait maupun landscape. Amazon mengklaim kindle dx mampu bertahan hingga 4 hari untuk satu kali pengisian ulang baterai dengan kondisi wireless diaktifkan, sedangkan jika wireless dimatikan mampu bertahan hingga 2 minggu. Untuk sekali pengisian ulang baterai sampai penuh diperlukan kira-kira 4 jam dan pengisian ulang baterai bisa dilakukan juga melalui USB port.
